Say Hello to the Industry Records

The Industry Records logo.

In the DIY spirit that launched The Industry four years ago, we’re thrilled to announce The Industry’s new independent label, The Industry Records!

INVISIBLE CITIES, Christopher Cerrone’s acclaimed adaptation of Italo Calvino’s novel, marks the first release on Tuesday, November 4 as a high-quality digital download and a very limited release physical CD.  The original cast of last year’s runaway success reunited under Producer Nick Tipp’s brilliant guidance to create an exceptional sonic experience.

The Industry Records is part of our artist-driven mission: all the artists involved in the recording receive a royalty from the very first sale, with the rest going directly to support The Industry’s mission and programming.

Metro Presents INVISIBLE CITIES:
October 29th Concert Performance and Album Release Celebration

Celebrating the award-winning opera one year after it encompassed Union Station and transfixed Los Angeles, this free acoustic concert performance of the opera reunites the original cast of INVISIBLE CITIES to mark the release of the recording on The Industry’s new independent label.  Composer and librettist Christopher Cerrone was nominated for a 2014 Pulitzer Prize for his adaptation of Italo Calvino’s beloved novel.  Cerrone’s delicate musical setting explores sonic qualities of decay and lushness with a haunting simplicity.  Last year’s production by The Industry and LA Dance Project became a runaway success – don’t miss this chance to experience the music again!

Audience members at the October 29 concert will get early access to the recording of INVISIBLE CITIES, the first release on The Industry Records.  The album will be available to the general public on Tuesday 11/4.

This program is produced in partnership with Metro Presents, which showcases an exciting array of free arts and cultural programs at historic Union Station.  More information at: metro.net/unionstation.
