Biography
As an artist, educator, researcher, and activist, Nico Rosario’s work meets at the intersections of creative arts, politics, culture, and education, with a special interest in youth and subcultures. A writer and photographer, she is co-host of the Black Women Are The Illuminati podcast, as well as a radio producer and host of Maximum R&B on Accra-based Oroko Radio and Sounds of the City on KCHUNG Radio in Los Angeles. She is a founding organizer of the Punk Scholars US Network and frequently collaborates with UCLA musicologist Jessica Schwartz on The Punkast Series.
Nico lives in Northeast Los Angeles, where she works in education and is currently juggling two long-form writing projects: a novel centered on underground dance music culture and the art world, and a screenplay about straight-edge culture and militant veganism in ’90s-era Salt Lake City.
