Cordelia Istel

Biography

Cordelia Istel is an organizer, educator, and producer with over a decade of experience working at the intersection of cultural programming and community organizing. Before joining The Industry, she served as Arts for LA’s Director of Organizing, overseeing advocacy strategy, base-building efforts, professional development programs, and communications. Previously, she worked as a labor organizer for SEIU Local 721, as Director of Programs & Operations for a NYC-based theater company, as Manager of the Met Opera’s Education Department, and was part of the collective that launched the United States Department of Arts & Culture.

Cordelia continues to make performance-based work and has toured/presented in LA, NYC, SF, Mexico City, Paris, and Brussels. In her spare time, Cordelia cooks, hikes, and attempts overly-ambitious craft projects with varying levels of success.
