The Industry’s Cultural Equity and Inclusion Statement

The Industry is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access because we believe that representing a multiplicity of viewpoints makes our work and our culture stronger. The Industry was founded on the belief that there are not enough voices in opera, and, that for the art form to thrive, opera needs to represent and resonate with contemporary culture. Our CEI commitment is aligned to our mission of expanding the definition of opera (whom opera is for, who is involved and where opera takes place). We seek to introduce and amplify new and diverse voices in order to change the opera field as a whole. We want our work to create a context for difference to be embraced.
