Mana Contractor
Biography
With her formative learning experiences in the Hindustani Classical tradition, Mana Contractor has studied and performs a variety of singing styles like Jazz, R&B, Persian and Carnatic classical music. Her focus on improvisation and fusion has led her to develop a unique style of globally conscious musical interpretation. Mana graduated from the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, India in 2015. While there, she had the opportunity to work on a piece for the Neumann and collaborated with Fulbright Scholar Alex Pinto on his musical project: “The All India Permit.” Mana’s neo soul ensemble Chandbibi and the Waste Candidates toured across India and parts of Asia until late 2016. She is currently a graduate student at the California Institute of the Arts and is working on her Jazz ensemble: Lace. Her works have been performed at: The Redcat and The Sharon Disney Lund Dance Theater, Los Angeles.
